Hi, I'm Jennifer
and I'm a poet who's passionate about art, education, and wellness.
I'm fascinated by the connections between the three: self-expression and finding the courage and capacity to practice it; mindfulness and the brain; the nature of human curiosity.
Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, I've also lived at the feet of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia and in the small town of Utrera in Andalucía.
My Bachelor of Arts in English is from Randolph College, where I received the Academy of American Poets Prize. After graduation, I taught for two years at IES José María Infantes, a public secondary school for the arts in Spain.
I earned my Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. From there, I joined the creative writing faculty at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, where I also served as co-director of the Douglas Anderson Writers' Festival from 2015-2020.
